Plans for the Winter Break
The Main Things I'll try to do in this break are the following: Continue working on the SaveMyCheese game, solve LeetCode questions, and prepare for the Programming-related courses of the next semester. The Programming-related courses I'll take during the next semester are Data Structures and Algorithms II, Database Systems, and C Programming.
Other things I'm planning on doing:
- Reading a book every week.
- The Books I'm planning on reading are:
- Deep Work - Cal Newport
- Flow - Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi
- Can't Hurt Me - David Goggins
- Courage Is Calling - Ryan Holiday
- It's going to be difficult, but I'm still going to try.
- Learning a new song on the Piano.
- The song I'll be practicing is Chopin - Nocturne Op. 48 No. 1.
- I'm planning on practicing every night after I finish studying.
- Continue practicing the guitar.
- I'll just continue where I last left off.
- Focus on Turkish one day a week.
Random Thoughts
Lately, I've been thinking about starting to take notes on a tablet rather than just using notebooks. I already use applications like Google Docs, Google Keep, and Samsung Notes every day, and they help a lot. So, I think getting used to taking digital notes will be beneficial to me. However, there are things I have to be wary of, and this video talks about some of them. It just mentions how you shouldn't fall into the trap of ever chasing the best Knowledge Management methods and apps, and how you shouldn't categorize spending time on managing your ideas and knowledge as "Getting Work Done", because you might be doing it just to escape from your actual work.
I personally love being organized, and I try to keep everything in my room and on my pc in order, but I can see how I might overdo it as an escape from more difficult work.
I've been watching a lot of Andrew Huberman's videos lately. I really recommend his channel. I've already adopted some small habits he talked about.
I've gotten used to tracking my habits and study time. For the past 11 months now, I've been tracking small habits daily using tables on Google Docs, for example, the exercises I did during the day, whether I went through my morning routine, and how many pages of a book I read. Since then, whenever I had a new good idea, I added it to my documents. Now, after a lot of editing, I have the following documents:
- Studies Tracking: I added a weekly goal and a certain number of hours I aim to study every day (of course, the number depends on how many classes you have on that day).
- Exercise Tracking: Similarly, I have a weekly goal I have to achieve.
- General Tracking: Other than tracking daily habits, there's a section where I can briefly write about my day.
I'll probably post an update about the game before the end of the break. Have a good day :).

ReplyDeleteI am proud to see you having good processes in place. You might not get results in the short term but in the long term it will make all the difference. As they say, "trust the process" :)
